Dubai-based Tomini Shipping, one of the region’s leading dry bulk ship owners, is bolstering its competitive capability with the acquisition of the 179,816 dwt Tomini K2, which is the first Capesize type bulk carrier to join its diversified fleet.
With the addition of this Chinese-built vessel, formerly known as Thalassini Astrid, Tomini’s fleet now stands at a total of 27 vessels, with an average age of 6 years. Tomini believes the acquisition further enhances its position in the dry bulk market, and represents a key milestone in its ongoing growth strategy.
Tomini Shipping is wholly owned by the Shaikh family, which for more than 70 years has been involved in the shipping market, including ownership and technical management, while commercial management is handled through its partners Alpina Chartering in Denmark. As well as its headquarters in Dubai, Tomini Shipping has dedicated crew management centres in Mumbai and Karachi.
