The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has signed an agreement with Alba Nova International and Taraf Alagar to set up an integrated bunker station at King Fahad Industrial Port, Yanbu, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy. The facility is considered crucial in meeting the aim of the Ministry of Energy to raise the Kingdom’s share of the regional bunkering market to 10 million tonnes a year, through increased partnerships with major oil storage companies.
The operator of the 393,000 m2 refuelling hub intends to build oil tanks to store, trade and blend petroleum products in two stages, with each phase including new 1.2 million tonnes capacity tanks. taking overall capacity to 2.5 million tonnes on completion. A total of 144 storage units, capable of holding diesel, benzene, and heavy fuel oil, among others, will be erected in each stage.
