Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and the Alexandria Shipyard in Egypt recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Doha. This will mainly focus on investigating new opportunities for vessels to be built by the Alexandria Shipyard for the Egyptian Navy or other potential customers.
The Alexandria Shipyard has a long track record in the field of military and commercial shipbuilding, for example building corvettes for the Egyptian Navy. It has also built various multipurpose vessels, offshore oil rigs and oil platforms for commercial uses.
Fincantieri and the Alexandria Shipyard say they are now looking for new joint businesses opportunities and to seek contracts for the supply of any type of vessel of interest, to be agreed upon between them.
