German project cargo and breakbulk specialist COLI Shipping & Transport has completed the transport of a 140-tonnes shiploader from Hamriyah to Rotterdam. The project, which also included other breakbulk cargo, technical surveys, pre-carriage and on-carriage work, was handled by COLI Istanbul. The entire operation, from the day of loading at UAE up to the cargo’s arrival at the Rotterdam terminal, took 27 days.
The main unit, a 15.5 x 8 x 8.4 m shiploader, was initially surveyed by a local team of engineers that the company deployed in the UAE to make sure all hydraulics and steering equipment were in order. The team also carried out a measurement study.
The project cargoes were moved from a laydown area located near Hamriyah port and prepared for lifting and transport, including handling local customs clearance. COLI then loaded the cargo onto trailers, before transporting it to the vessel. Upon arrival at Rotterdam terminal, the team also arranged for the cargoes to be transshipped to a barge and delivered to the consignee’s terminal in Rotterdam.
